  • The Dark Carnival Halloween 2017 in New Jersey

136 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville, NJ 08721

Since Antiquity, visually unusual beings had been exhibited in public spaces.  In the 16th century, street performances involving these beings were organized for the enjoyment of the public.

Later Freak shows featuring a number of ‘monsters’ contributed to the success of travelling shows. For more than a hundred years, the sideshow was to become an indispensable part of American circus culture.  Classic attractions of the past included the giant, the fat lady, the midget, the three-legged boy, the armless wonder and the thin man.

105 Sideshows used to exist in the United States alone, but today the business of sideshows has all but disappeared due to public scorn.  Until today…..

The Dark Carnival brings you New Jersey’s First Traveling Side Show.

Be amazed as you meet the Morbus, the Aquatic Fish Boy.  Taken straight from the Atlantic waters off Morocco, Morbus is an exotic, land dwelling fish that one must see to believe.

Step back as you witness the spectacle of Algano, the Amphibious Lizard Man.  Complete with scales and a slimy coat, Algano is sure to challenge your minds boundaries between the possible and impossible.

Finally, our greatest attraction… Mongo the Human Mutant.  Grotesquely deformed, one might debate if Mongo is human at all.  Completely devoid of all ability to learn and function in the human world, Mongo has known nothing but sideshow life since his birth.  Be careful as you approach him however he can be as dangerous as he is unusual.

So come one, come all to the Dark Carnival !!!   If you have unquenchable curiosity for the outlandish,  thirst for the unknown, and both an attraction and repulsion for the diseased and deformed, we have put together the show for you.  Visit our Sideshow of Oddities and we assure you that your mind, your curiosity, and all the beliefs you have ever held true will be questioned forever.

Tickets: $20.00

When: Weekends in October (Fridays & Saturdays) from 7pm – 11pm

The 10 Best Happy Hours in Central NJ

The 10 Best Happy Hours in Central New Jersey

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

UPDATED LIST CLICK HERE

We all know the best feeling of work is leaving it. One of the funnest ways we all love to unwind after a long day of work is Happy Hour. But which one’s? Which one’s have the best deals? Which one’s are worth the drive? What are the scenes like in these places?

Well look not further. If you live or work in Central New Jersey, there’s no sense in breaking your wallet or your data plan finding the best Happy Hours in area, we have done it for you.

10.)  Fox and Hound – Edison, NJ (Menlo Park Mall, Menlo Park drive, Edison, NJ 08837)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Burgers, flat-breads, Sports and American Fare. If you like the idea of the sports bar on steroids, this is the place for you. Surrounded by Televisions and a plethora of beer on tap, this place is a great bang for your buck. Happy hour takes place on Monday – Friday from 5pm-7pm. Deals include $2.75 on ALL drafts (and there are a lot of them), $4 well drinks, and $5 house wines. If you feel like hanging a little longer, each day of the week has another deal. For more information on deals and happy hours click HERE

9.) Kelly’s Korner – New Brunswick, NJ (75 Morrell Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

This is the first of New Brunswick bars on our list, and the MOST DIVEY. Now some may look down at a dive bar, I find it charming. I would say exactly what time happy hour exists, but it’s a difficult to find a concrete answer on the yelp. But this place’s prices are always affordable, even at 11pm on a Friday. From the $1 sliders, the eclectic juke box and $3 for a Guiness, poured the right way, make no mistake about this place, IT IS A BAR. If you like a bar, this place is great. If you are expecting marble floors and a bar that looks like a Stella Artois commercial, you will be sadly mistaken. Younger crowd but a great place to hang out. For more info click HERE

8.) The Shannon Rose – Woodbridge, NJ (855 Saint George’s Avenue, Avenel, NJ 07001)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Going from Kelly’s Korner, this is the complete opposite of an Irish Pub. This place is more in the vein The Fox and Hound, but with an Irish Charm. The only thing better than one happy hour is TWO. This local watering hole has happy hour Monday-Friday from 3pm-7pm then again from 10pm-Close (Usually around 2am), and not just drinks ($2 off drinks, wine and beer [and a wide selection of beer]) but also choices for food. Including $1 finger foods, Buffalo chicken, Cheeseburger, Hamburger sliders, and a reuben fritter, $3 pint sized munchies (quesadillas, humus, potato skins and nachos), $4 Fries (pub fries, buffalo fries, chili fries and disco fries), $5 Bar Pies and Pretzels (2 of them). Very clean and well maintained bar, worth the adventure. For More Information on their Happy hour specials and nightly specials, click HERE

7.) Tumulty’s – New Brunswick, NJ (361 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

This bar is a classic. From the cathedral ceilings to the silver dollars embedded in the classic oak bar, this place is a New Brunswick Staple. A great place to go while your on your way to a show, either at the Stress Factory, just around the corner, or to the State Theater, just up the street. Happy hour happens here Monday – Friday, from 4pm-7pm and Wednesday from 4pm – Close. There’s plenty to be had, with $3 beers and wines, and $4 Guiness and mixed drinks, that will wet your appetite (each entree comes with a half head of lettuce with your choice of dressing). Such a classic and worth the visit. For More information on their happy hour and nightly deals, click HERE

6.) Kona Grill – Woodbridge, NJ (511 US Highway 1 South, Iselin, NJ 08830)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Get ready for something completely different. A Hawaiian grill with a contemporary twist. The Kona Grill is located right on Route 1 south, near the Woodbridge Center Mall. Not unlike the Shannon Rose, the Kona Grill focuses on the drink aspect of Happy Hour, but also a variety of Food tasting. Occurring Monday-Friday from 3pm-7pm, then again Monday – Thursday from 9pm-12am, and yet again Friday-Saturday 9am-1am and ALL DAY SUNDAY. This one is surely not to missed (especially if you are a sushi lover, they offer half priced and great quality). For more information on the restuarant click HERE, for the Happy Hour Food Menu Click HERE, and for the Happy Hour Drink Menu, Click HERE

5.) The Ale N Wich Pub – New Brunswick, NJ (246 Hamilton Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Another bar on our list. The Ale N Wich is a bar in every sense of the word. Off the beaten path of the traditional Easton Ave bars in the Rutgers Community, The Ale N Wich is worth adventure. Boasting several beers on tap, even more in the bottle, a digital bowling game, pool table, foozball table, and large outdoor area, this place doesn’t pretend to be anything else than what it is, a great bar. Happy hour occurring Monday-Saturday from 4pm-8pm (the longest on our list), with $3 well drinks, $7 pitchers of Rolling Rock and Miller Lite, and all pints that are $4.75 are only $3.50. And once happy hour is over, doesn’t mean the deals do. Every night of the week features a variety of great drink specials that are sure to please. For more information, click HERE

4.) Bahama Breeze – Woodbridge, NJ (520 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095)

Central New Jersey Happy hour

Relax… It’s Island time. Embrace the Island lifestyle, right in the center of New Jersey. This is a newer establishment, so everything is clean and ready to go for you. Like previous entries on this list, Bahama Breeze has great deals on not just drinks (and they are great deals), but also on their signature food. With happy hour occurring Monday through Friday, from 4pm – 6pm, and again Monday through Thursday, from 9pm-Close. With all 14oz draft beers at $2 a piece, 20oz beers and bottled beers at $3 a piece, $2 off any wine, $3 well drinks, and $4 specialty drinks (see the menu for specialty drink menu), then half priced appetizers. This place is great and different than anything else on our list. For more information click HERE

3.) Hailey’s Harp & Pub – Metuchen, NJ (400 Main Street, Metuchen, NJ 08840)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Right in the heart of downtown Metuchen, the pub’s greatest attribute: Simplicity. Great food, great drinks and great company. Located half a block from the Metuchen Train Station and around the Metuchen Cab Stand, this quaint spot is the perfect place to enjoy all the “craic” an Irish pub has to offer, especially if you’re having more than one. Happy hour consists of $1 off all drinks, Monday-Thursday, from 3pm-6pm. With a large variety of craft beers and top shelf liquor, this place is worth hanging out after happy hour, with great bands, comedians, karaoke, shuffle board and Irish grub (great wings and the best potato leak soup in New Jersey). See their menu for specials throughout the week by clicking HERE

2.) The Frog and The Peach – New Brunswick, NJ (29 Dennis Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Get ready for fancy Happy Hour! This place is the best food Happy Hour could offer. The Frog and the Peach looks like a it doesn’t belong in the neighborhood it is in, but once you taste the food, you’ll know it not only belongs, but it’s a staple.  The food is American style and the bar menu is available for HALF PRICE during happy hour. Their happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4pm-6:30pm and Sunday 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Along with all house wines and beers are only $5. This is one of the most delicious restaurants in New Jersey and well worth the trip (try the Tamarind Glazed Pulled Duck Baguette, you will not be disappointed) For more information on this menu, click HERE

1.) Clydz – New Brunswick, NJ (55 Paterson Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901)

Central New Jersey Happy Hour

Step back into a world of the speak-easy. This classy martini bar looks like something right out of the Great Gatsby that serves up drinks stiff with a classic ambiance. This is probably the coolest and unique happy hour central Jersey has to offer. This charming place offers the best signature drinks, within the confines of it’s brick interior, fireplace and fish-tank behind the bar. They have a variety of specialty martinis for only $7. They also offer rare appetizer deals for only $6, including alligator sausage, game meatballs, wild boar arancini, roast garlic humus, to name a few.
